PURPOSE OF THE JOB: To safely design, install, fault find, repair and maintain instrumentation and IT equipment and infrastructure.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

Grade 12 or NQF 4 Equivalent

Instrumentation National Diploma or NQF 6

2-3 Years Instrument Technician experience

3 Years Instrumentation Mechanician experience within a mining environment

Experience in setting up industrial IT networking

MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)

SAP

COMPETENCIES:

Adheres to safety regulations and mine standards, procedures and practices and reports non-compliance.

Participates in regular safety meetings and makes recommendations to ensure overall safety.

Performs regular inspections in area of work and report hazards to ensure environment safety and hazard free and recommends remedial action where necessary.

Demonstrate knowledge pertaining to basic health and safety principles in the workplace.

Demonstrate an understanding of the uses and safety aspects associated with flammable energy sources.

Understand basic electrical and mechanical engineering principles.

Understand basic electronic theory and components.

Demonstrate and understanding of the Principles of Process Control Loops.

Demonstrate and understanding of basic Programmable Logic Controllers.

Demonstrate an understanding of the principles of installing Instrumentation Equipment.

Network Monitoring

PLC programming Software

SCADA Programming Software

Problem solving strategies

Principles of supporting users of local area networks

Read and interpret instrumentation drawings

Produce complex engineering drawings

Draw and interpret instrumentation drawings

Identify, inspect, use maintain and care for engineering hand tools

Select, use and care for electrical measuring equipment

Select, use and care for electrical measuring instruments

Select, inspect, use and maintain measurement, test and calibration equipment
