Job Overview
Nedbank is seeking a skilled Java Software Developer to join its Application Development team in Johannesburg. The role focuses on delivering high-quality, scalable, and robust software solutions aligned with business and technical requirements.
The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, testing, and maintaining complex system components while also providing mentorship to other developers. This role is ideal for an experienced Java developer with strong problem-solving skills and a passion for building enterprise-level systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop high-quality software aligned with technical and system design specifications
- Design and implement complex and critical system components
- Ensure software is scalable, maintainable, observable, and fault-tolerant
- Estimate development effort and manage technical delivery timelines
- Troubleshoot and resolve software issues effectively
- Provide guidance and mentorship to other developers
- Produce technical documentation according to organisational standards
- Develop and execute unit and system test cases
- Manage deployment packages and source control artefacts

Qualifications
Education
- Advanced Diploma or National First Degree in Information Technology or related field
- Degree/Diploma/Certification in multiple programming languages advantageous
Experience
- Minimum of 3 yearsβ programming experience
- Experience in Java software development
- Experience working within Agile development environments
- Exposure to full Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC)
- Experience in system integration and enterprise application development
Skills
- Strong knowledge of Java and application development frameworks
- Understanding of data structures and system architecture
- Experience with Agile methodologies
