Job Description

Our client, market leader in the FMCG sector is looking to hire a Qualified Millwright, based in the Industria area. The Millwright is responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing machinery within a manufacturing environment.

This role requires strong mechanical and electrical skills to troubleshoot issues, minimize downtime, and ensure optimal machine performance.

The Millwright supports continuous improvement initiatives, maintains safety compliance, and collaborates with teams to enhance operational efficiency.

Experience with automated machinery and strong problem-solving abilities are essential.

Educational Requirement & Experience

Matric

Red Seal Millwright

minimum 2 years' experience post Trade qualifications

Minimum N4 Mechanical or electrical.

Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude with specific knowledge of manufacturing machinery and equipment.

Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings, machine manuals, and schematics.

Skilled in using hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment specific to manufacturing machinery and equipment.

Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to analyse and resolve complex mechanical issues.

Computer literate - Microsoft Office, Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).

Formal PLC training - must be able to understand, read, diagnose, and program PLC's, OMRON would be advantageous.

Previous experience in a manufacturing environment.

Ability to work shifts/previous shift experience.

Job Description

Meet KPIs related to machine uptime, response times, repair quality, HSE, and housekeeping

Perform preventative maintenance, routine inspections, and ensure adherence to maintenance schedules

Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic faults

Install, assemble, dismantle, and align machinery per technical drawings and specifications

Minimise downtime and optimise machine performance and output

Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) and implement corrective actions to prevent recurring issues

Replace or manufacture parts to required quality and operational standards

Collaborate with production teams to ensure efficient machine operation

Support breakdowns, major maintenance tasks, and autonomous maintenance activities (tagging, training)

Train operators and supervisors on machinery and procedural updates

Monitor machine performance, efficiency, and report faults or deviations

Maintain accurate maintenance records and CMMS entries, including shift handovers and reports

Ensure compliance with safety standards, ISO requirements, and LOTOTO procedures

Conduct safety inspections and participate in continuous safety improvement initiatives

Perform quality checks, testing, and calibration to meet product standards

Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance reliability, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness

Maintain high housekeeping standards (5S) and ensure clean work areas after tasks

Take ownership of tasks and ensure timely, accurate completion of all maintenance and repairs
