Role Overview

The Security Management Internship is designed to provide graduates with practical exposure to security operations, risk management, compliance, and safety protocols within a government environment.

Interns will gain hands-on experience in security administration, incident reporting, access control processes, and implementation of safety and security policies. The internship aims to develop professional skills relevant to public sector security management while familiarising interns with legislative and regulatory frameworks governing government security operations.


Key Responsibilities (What You’ll Learn)

During the internship, successful candidates will receive training and exposure in the following areas:

  • Assisting with implementation and monitoring of departmental security policies and procedures

  • Supporting access control systems and visitor management processes

  • Assisting with security risk assessments and identification of potential threats

  • Supporting incident reporting, investigation documentation, and record keeping

  • Gaining exposure to occupational health and safety and emergency preparedness protocols

  • Assisting with coordination of security service providers and internal stakeholders

  • Maintaining security-related records and reports in line with governance requirements

  • Learning compliance requirements related to government security standards and legislation


Qualifications

Applicants must have completed a minimum three (3) year qualification from an accredited institution in the following field:

  • Security Management

Qualifications may include a National Diploma, Advanced Diploma, Degree, Honours, or Master’s degree.
