Job Overview

Scytale is seeking a Senior Full-Stack Developer to join its core R&D team in Johannesburg. This hands-on role spans backend and frontend development, cloud architecture, microservices design, and performance optimisation.

The successful candidate will play a strategic role in shaping a scalable SaaS platform that automates IT auditing processes for global SaaS organisations.

Key Responsibilities

Build & Design

  • Develop and enhance Scytale’s cloud-based SaaS platform

  • Implement microservices and containerised solutions

  • Leverage AWS and modern distributed architectures

Architecture & Engineering

  • Participate in architectural research and design decisions

  • Deliver scalable, resilient, and high-performance systems

  • Apply best-practice software design principles

Full-Stack Development

  • Develop backend services using Node.js

  • Build dynamic front-end interfaces using React

  • Integrate third-party APIs and external services

Collaboration

  • Work closely with stakeholders, customers, and internal teams

  • Ensure seamless system integration and platform reliability

Leadership & Mentorship

  • Guide junior developers

  • Maintain coding standards and best practices

  • Promote knowledge sharing within the team

Optimisation

  • Improve system performance and scalability

  • Stay current with emerging SaaS and DevOps technologies

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field (Advantageous)

Experience

  • 5+ years’ experience with Node.js

  • 5+ years’ experience with React

  • Proven production experience in microservices architecture

  • Experience building high-scale SaaS platforms (Advantageous)

  • Strong understanding of CI/CD and QA automation (Advantageous)

  • REST API development and integrations

Databases:

  • Relational and non-relational databases

Cloud & DevOps:
