Job Description

A leading packaging manufacturing company is looking for an experienced Services Engineer with strong experience in utilities, maintenance and engineering services within a production environment to join their team in Johannesburg. The successful candidate will be responsible for servicing compressors and utility equipment, overseeing planned and unplanned maintenance, supporting engineering problem-solving, and contributing to continuous improvement and asset care initiatives across the business. The position is day shift only.

Responsibilities

Service compressors and utility equipment.

Review and implement planned and unplanned maintenance relating to water, air and electricity utilities.

Ensure service level agreements are maintained to the required standards.

Ensure contractors comply with relevant SHEQ requirements.

Carry out preventative and planned maintenance effectively.

Participate in the asset care strategy.

Oversee utility costs against budget.

Ensure engineering standards are correctly applied.

Assist with engineering and operational problem-solving relating to utilities.

Analyse utility-related breakdowns and implement continuous improvement initiatives.

Promote a safe working environment by adhering to safety procedures.

Report unsafe conditions immediately.

Ensure proper housekeeping standards are maintained.

Requirements

Qualified technician; an engineering diploma or degree is beneficial but not essential.

Mechanical engineering qualification or relevant technical qualification.

3 - 5 years of experience in a production environment.

Strong mechanical aptitude and a general understanding of electrical engineering.

Computer literate.

Strong interpersonal and influencing skills.

Ability to assess and prioritise work effectively.

Highly self-motivated, energetic and composed, with the ability to motivate others.

Proficient in English, both written and verbal.

Ability to work effectively as part of a team.

Strong safety awareness.

Valid driver's licence.

Willingness to work standby and overtime when required.
