About The Role
The Store Manager is responsible for the overall performance and profitability of the store by leading the team, driving sales, delivering an exceptional customer experience and ensuring operational excellence.
This role oversees all aspects of the business, including sales performance, people management, stock control, administration, merchandising, compliance and customer service, while ensuring company policies and procedures are consistently maintained.
Key Responsibilities
Sales & Commercial Performance
Drive the achievement of daily, weekly and monthly sales targets.
Monitor store performance and implement initiatives to maximise revenue and profitability.
Analyse sales reports and key performance indicators to identify opportunities for improvement.
Promote upselling and cross-selling opportunities across all product categories.
Ensure sales targets are communicated and understood by the team.
Leadership & People Management
Recruit, coach and develop a high-performing team.
Conduct regular one-on-one coaching sessions and performance reviews.
Set, monitor and manage individual and team KPIs and Key Performance Areas (KPAs).
Motivate the team to consistently achieve sales and customer service objectives.
Manage employee performance, attendance and disciplinary matters in partnership with HR.
Foster a positive, collaborative and customer-focused culture.
Staff Scheduling & Workforce Planning
Prepare and manage staff rosters to ensure optimal floor coverage.
Manage leave, attendance and timekeeping.
Allocate resources effectively to meet trading requirements while managing labour costs.
Stock Control & Inventory Management
Ensure accurate receiving, grading, labelling and storage of all stock.
Maintain stock accuracy through regular cycle counts and stock takes.
Ensure effective replenishment and merchandising of all products.
Identify, report and manage faulty, damaged or missing stock.
Minimise stock losses through strong inventory controls.
Store Operations & Administration
Ensure all sales, returns, banking, cash-ups and manual invoices are processed accurately and according to company procedures.
Maintain accurate administration and ensure all documentation is submitted to Head Office within required timeframes.
Control store expenses and operate within budget.
Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures and audit requirements.
Receiving, Dispatch & Supplier Liaison
Ensure all receiving and dispatch procedures are followed accurately.
Investigate and resolve supplier discrepancies within agreed turnaround times.
Escalate unresolved issues to Head Office where necessary.
Maintain accurate documentation relating to deliveries and supplier queries.
Merchandising & Housekeeping
Ensure the store and stockrooms are clean, organised and well maintained.
Maintain high visual merchandising standards in line with company guidelines.
Ensure all products are correctly priced and labelled.
Customer Experience
Deliver an exceptional customer experience at every interaction.
Ensure customers are assisted promptly and professionally.
Resolve customer complaints and escalations effectively.
Ensure customer repairs, trade-ins and service requests are processed according to company standards.
Stakeholder Management
Liaise regularly with Head Office departments, including Operations, Finance, Marketing, Supply Chain and Human Resources.
Implement Head Office initiatives, campaigns and operational directives.
Communicate business updates and operational requirements effectively to the store team.
Online Orders
Acknowledging the order
Checking the unit through the QC process
Dispatching the order
Communication when and where required with an online custome
Compliance & Risk Management
Ensure compliance with company policies, health and safety standards and relevant legislation.
Safeguard company assets and minimise operational risk.
Ensure security procedures are always adhered to.
Educational Requirements
Matric / Grade 12 (Essential)
Retail Management or Business Management qualification (Advantageous)
Experience
3 - 5 years' retail management experience, preferably within consumer electronics or technology retail.
Proven experience managing sales targets and store profitability.
Experience leading and developing retail teams.
Strong understanding of stock control and inventory management.
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook and Word) and retail POS/inventory systems.
